Starting May 18, every Friday this season the Yankees' AA affiliate Trenton Thunder will officially be called the Trenton Pork Roll.
Even better, they will kick off this weekly brand change with Pork Roll Day on May 18 at the ballpark, where fans can buy a pork roll sandwich for just $1. Just be sure say pork roll and not Taylor Ham, of course. They'll have a pork roll mascot for those games, too.
More arguments than New Jersey natives would be proud to admit have been centered around whether the breakfast meat should be called pork roll or Taylor Ham, and clearly the Thunder, and by extension, the Yankees, have backed pork roll as its rightful name. This will be used as a fantastic arguing point for those in the corner of pork roll
The Thunder kick off their season on April 4 against the Richmond Flying Squirrels. What a way to celebrate the Thunder's 25th season.
