Giancarlo Stanton is banged up again, but Yankees manager Aaron Boone gave a positive update on the slugger.

Stanton had to leave Tuesday's game before the fourth inning began with a right knee contusion, the team announced. He received an MRI for further evaluation, and Boone says there was nothing to be worried about from the test.

"Tests were good. Came in today and there was no swelling in there," he said before Wednesday's series finale with the Blue Jays. "He was sore and stiff, so just going through treatment right now. No [roster] move or anything."

Stanton told Aaron Boone that he was not sure if he injured it sliding into second or diving into third base during the first inning.

Stanton was on first base when Luke Voit hit a grounder to third that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made a diving stop on. Stanton saw Guerrero did not go back to cover third and tried to take the extra base but he was beat to the bag by Blue Jays pitcher Clayton Richard, who tagged Stanton out as he dove into the base.

After Richard tagged him, he nearly tripped over Stanton's head as he was getting up, which caused Richard to lose his balance and appeared to step on Stanton's hand, which initially appeared to be the injury.

Stanton appeared fine, though, and remained in the game the next two innings. Brett Gardner replaced Stanton in left field.

The injury is on the opposite leg of Stanton's calf strain.

This is just the latest of a long list of injuries Stanton has endured all season. He was placed on the IL on April 1 with a biceps tear and did not return to the lineup until last week. Stanton battled multiple setbacks, which included a sore shoulder and a calf strain, the latter of which came as he was playing in rehab games in May.
