The Yankees activated shortstop Didi Gregorius off the 10-day disabled list prior to Friday's game against the Seattle Mariners, the team announced.
The 28-year-old Gregorius missed 16 games dating back to mid-August after he suffered a bruised heel on a collision while running to first base on Aug. 19 against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Yankees went 9-7 in Gregorius' absence, having Gleyber Torres fill in occasionally at shortstop and acquiring Adeiny Hechavarria to play shortstop as well.
Gregorius was hitting .270 with 22 home runs and 74 RBIs prior to going on the DL. In 19 games from July 31 to Aug. 19, he had a .319/.392/.551 batting line with four homers and 15 RBIs.
