The Yankees are close to signing another infielder: D.J. LeMahieu.
SNY's Andy Martino has confirmed that LeMahieu has agreed to a two-year deal with the Yankees, pending physical.
The deal for the infielder likely pulls the Yankees out of the Manny Machado sweepstakes, but Martino reports that is not a certainty, yet.
LeMahieu is a two-time All-Star who is a career .298/.350/.406 hitter over eight seasons with the Rockies and Cubs and won a batting title in 2016 hitting .348 in Colorado.
The 30-year-old is also a three-time Gold Glove award winner, playing mostly second base.
His deal is expected to be worth up to $24 million, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
