Who is starting for the Yankees?
RHP Masahiro Tanaka (3.83 ERA/4.23 FIP, 1.13 WHIP in 134 innings), who tossed a great game against the Tigers on Sept. 1. He allowed just one run on seven hits while striking out six and walking one over seven innings.
Tanaka has success against the Mariners over his career, with a 2.34 ERA in seven starts. The veteran righty has gone a full seven innings in back-to-back starts.

Who is starting for the Mariners?
LHP James Paxton (3.74 ERA/3.16 FIP, 1.11 WHIP in 144.1 innings), who took home a win in his last start against the A's. He allowed three runs on two hits (one homer) while striking out 10 and walking four over five innings.
Paxton was struck for four runs in his start against the Yankees back on June 21. The 29-year-old had a tough August with a 5.54 ERA. Overall, his second half ERA is a few notches under four at 3.96.
