Luis Severino got the Yankees to the fifth inning during the Wild Card game against the Athletics on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium, and the bullpen took it from there.
Here's how they fared...
- Dellin Betances entered with runners on first and second and none out with the Yankees up, 2-0, in the fifth inning and got Matt Chapman to line out, Jed Lowrie to fly out, and Khris Davis to strike out to escape the jam. Betances came back out for the sixth, tossing a perfect frame with two strikeouts.
- After the Yankees scored four runs in the sixth inning to increase their lead to 6-0, David Robertson tossed a spotless seventh inning while striking out one.
- Zach Britton worked the eighth inning, allowing a two-run homer to Davis. After giving up the homer, he issued a two-out walk before escaping.
- Aroldis Chapman worked around a single to toss a scoreless ninth inning and seal the win.
