Yankees RHP Domingo German allowed four runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings in a 4-2 loss in the second game of Monday's doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park.
German (0-4) has gone 0-3 with an 8.14 ERA in four outings since throwing six no-hit innings in his first MLB start. He left with the Yankees trailing 3-2 after giving up a two-out double to Miguel Cabrera, but reliever Adam Warren allowed another double to Victor Martinez that made it 4-2.
German struggled early, as the Tigers put at least two runners on base in three of the first four innings. He allowed a sac fly to Ronny Rodriguez in the second inning that gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead but was unable to escape unscathed in the fourth.
James McCann lined an RBI double that made it 2-1, and with two outs, neither third baseman Miguel Andujar nor left fielder Clint Frazier could come up with Jeimer Candelario's bloop double down the line as the Yankees fell in a 3-1 hole.
After Candelario's double, German retired eight of the next nine batters he faced.
