Gleyber Torres is having a ridiculously good season. Against the Orioles, though, his numbers are almost impossible to believe. Almost as impossible to believe as the fact that Baltimore keeps pitching to him.
After clubbing two homers against the Orioles during Monday night's win, Torres is hitting .486/.538/.1.257 against the O's with three doubles, eight homers, and 10 RBI.
That means that of Torres' 10 homers this season, 80 percent (!) have come against Baltimore.
It should be noted the the Yankees have played the Orioles more times (9) than any other team. The teams they've played the second-most is the Rays (five times).
Still, Torres' numbers against the Orioles are nuts.
To put this in further context:
- Torres has 44 total bases against the Orioles in nine games this season. In total, against every other team in every other game the Yankees have played (36 games), Torres has 48 total bases.
The Orioles are horrendous, with their 32 losses the most in baseball as they charge toward a likely 100+ loss season. But the damage Torres is doing against them is still hard to believe.
Torres will likely get his next crack at the O's on Tuesday night.
