Didi Gregorius is continuing to work his way back into the Yankees' lineup, but it won't be anytime soon.
After the shortstop underwent Tommy John surgery on Oct. 17, the Yankees believed they could get Gregorius back as early as June, but that hope is fading. GM Brian Cashman told SiriusXM radio Wednesday that a June return for Gregorius would be "optimistic," and that a July or August return is more likely.

Two weeks ago, Aaron Boone said the club originally thought Gregorius could return "two-to-four months" into the 2019 season. But with this latest Cashman update, it appears it will be at least three months until Gregorius is ready.
In the meantime, Troy Tulowitzki will be penciled in at short while Gleyber Torres serves as the No. 2 option at the position. Torres is starting at short for the Yankees on Wednesday against the Tigers.
