The Red Sox are the 2018 World Series champions, but it is never too early to start looking at the favorites for next year.
Westgate Sportsbook in Las Vegas released its odds on the 2019 World Series shortly after the Red Sox defeated the Dodgers in five games on Sunday night and Boston is favored, along with Houston Astros, at 6-to-1 odds to win next year's title.
However, the Yankees are not too far behind.
The Bronx Bombers are right behind American League rivals Red Sox and Astros at 7-to-1 odds to win the World Series next year. As are the Dodgers, who have lost the World Series the last two years.
The Red Sox and Astros are both 11-to-4 odds to win the American League pennant while the Yankees are slated at 7-to-2.
Behind the Yankees to win the World Series are the Cubs and Indians at 10-to-1 odds.
As for the rest of the AL East, the Rays have 40-to-1 odds, Blue Jays are 60-to-1 odds and the Orioles are at 300-to-1 odds -- which is the worst odds of all 30 MLB teams.
Meanwhile, the Mets are in the thick of the pack at 30-to-1 odds to win the World Series and 15-to-1 odds to win the National League pennant.
The good news for the Yankees is that it is only October and there is still free agency to come, which the Yankees are sure to make an improvement one way or the other.
