The Yankees and A's seem destined to face eachother in the play-in Wild Card game, and New York's lead for home field advantage is starting to shrink.
With the Yanks going 5-5 in their last 10 games and A's going 7-3 over the same span, Oakland is just 2.5 games behind them (3.0 in the loss column).
The Yankees (89-54) have 19 games remaining, while the A's (87-57) have 18.
While the Yankees' shot at winning the AL East seems dead (they trail the Red Sox by 8.5 games). The A's seem to have chance to win the AL West, where they trail the Astros by 2.5 games (3.0 in the loss column).
If the A's overtake the Astros, it would likely make the Wild Card game a rematch of last season's epic Yankees/Astros ALCS.
For now, though, the Yanks and A's remain on track to do battle. The teams split their six-game season series.
