The Yankees received some encouraging news regarding Miguel Andujar on Friday.
The third baseman played five innings in an extended Spring Training game and went 2-for-3 with a walk and home run.
It was his first rehab game since he sustained a partially torn labrum on April 1 and has been on the IL since.
On Thursday, manager Aaron Boone had said that if Andujar is able to play without any issues he could return to the club in "about a week."
The Yankees are hoping Andujar is able to return and avoid season-ending surgery on his shoulder.
Andujar played all five innings on Friday at third base, but Boone had suggested possibly using him primarily as a DH, or even try him out at first base, in order to avoid stress on his shoulder.
