Notes: Top-30 prospect rankings (via MLBPipeline.com) are club based with overall MLB ranks, if applicable, in parenthesis. Prospects currently in the major leagues will not be covered here. Team records and statistics are through games played July 5, 2018, unless otherwise noted.
Rookie - Appalachian League - Pulaski Yankees
Record: 7-9, 4th place, 6.0 GB
Pulaski went 4-2 since the last report, yet lost a game in the standings.
No. 5 -- Luis Medina (RHP) was unable to last longer than three innings in his last start, however he stranded 10 base runners without allowing a run to score.
No. 21 -- Everson Pereira (OF) went 2-for 15 since the last report and is now hitting .206 for the season.
Rookie - New York Penn League - Staten Island Pizza Rats
Record: 8-12, 4th place, 5.0 GB
Staten Island went 4-2 since the last report, gaining two games in the standings. However, the Pizza Rats still sit in the division basement.
No. 10 -- Matt Sauer (RHP) did not make a start since the last report. Sauer has tossed 15 innings so far for Staten Island to the tune of a 2.40 ERA while holding batters to a tiny .137 batting average.
No. 18 -- Nolan Martinez (RHP) made another strong start, hurling 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball in which he allowed just three base runners and struck out four hitters.
No. 23 -- Canaan Smith (OF) has three hits in his last 10 at-bats, including his first home run of the season. Smith is hitting just .167 in 60 at-bats.
No. 28 -- Juan De Paula (RHP) coughed up four runs in five innings in his most recent start, which bumped his ERA to 3.07 in 14 2/3 innings in the early going.
Class A - South Atlantic League Southern Division - Charleston RiverDogs
1st-half Record: 33-35, 5th place, 6.5 GB
2nd-half Record: 9-4, T-1st place
Charleston went 4-2 since the last report.
No. 14 -- Deivi Garcia (RHP) struck out seven batters in a five-inning effort this week, allowing just one run in the process.
No. 17 -- Glenn Otto (RHP) remains on the seven-day disabled list. Otto had thrown 10 1/3 innings to the tune of a 3.48 ERA and 1.45 WHIP before being injured.
No. 20 -- Dermis Garcia (3B) went 3-for-18 with a homer in his last five games. Garcia is slashing .203/.285/.399 with six homers and 14 RBIs.
Making Noise -- Pablo Olivares (OF) remains red-hot, notching at least one hit in 14 of his last 15 games. Olivares is hitting .346 for the season with an .883 OPS.
Advanced A - Florida State League North Division - Tampa Tarpons
1st-half Record: 35-35, 3rd place, 4.0 GB
2nd-half Record: 4-4, T-4th place, 2.5 GB
Tampa went 3-3 since the last report staying the exact spot in the standings.
No. 1 (No. 37) -- Estevan Florial (OF) is on the disabled list until mid-August due to a right wrist injury that required surgery. Florial was hitting .246 with a .353 on-base percentage and a .343 slugging percentage in 156 plate appearances before the surgery.
No. 3 (No. 61) -- Albert Abreu (RHP) did not make a start since the last report. Abreu sports a 4.28 ERA in 48 1/3, but has allowed batters to hit just .228 off him.
No. 6 -- Freicer Perez (RHP) remains on the seven-day disabled list. Perez's ERA sits at 7.20 across 25 innings (six starts) this season.
No. 11 -- Clarke Schmidt (RHP) is on a rehab assignment with the Gulf Coast League Yankees West club trying to come back from Tommy John surgery. Schmidt made his third start of the assignment, a scoreless 2 1/3-inning effort.
No. 24 -- Nick Nelson (RHP) stuck out nine batters and allowed five hits in an abbreviated 4 1/3-inning start on Sunday in which he allowed one run. Nelson has 51 strikeouts in 46 innings with Tampa.
No. 25 -- Trevor Lane (LHP) made one relief appearance last week, working two innings of shutout ball with four strikeouts.
No. 26 -- Garrett Whitlock (RHP) held Charlotte to two runs in six innings Saturday. Whitlock has a tidy 2.00 ERA in 36 innings with Tampa.
No. 29 -- Isiah Gilliam (1B) recorded four hits in 14 at-bats since the last report. Gilliam owns a .729 OPS for the season.
Making Noise -- Phillip Diehl (LHP) has not allowed a run in his last five relief appearances. Diehl has racked up 68 strikeouts in just 44 2/3 innings.
Double-A - Eastern League Eastern Division - Trenton Thunder
Record: 49-36, 1st place, 0.5 GA
Trenton went 4-2 this week to overtake New Hampshire in the standings.
No. 7 -- Domingo Acevedo (RHP) went five innings in his latest start, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out five batters.
No. 9 -- Dillon Tate (RHP) turned things around after a stretch of poor starts with a five-inning, one-run effort despite walking four batters on Thursday.
No. 13 -- Trevor Stephan (RHP) once again was hit around, giving up three runs and eight hits in four innings. Stephan's ERA with Trenton rose to 4.78 in 32 innings.
Making Noise -- Kaleb Ort (RHP) has a 2.18 ERA and a .198 BAA in 22 relief innings with Trenton, striking out 33 batters.
Triple-A - International League North Division - Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders
Record: 44-40, 2nd place, 4.5 GB
The RailRiders went 5-1 since the last report, pulling into second place and moving up two games in the standings.
No. 2 (No. 39) -- Justus Sheffield (LHP) produced another strong start, lasting seven innings and allowing just one run on three hits and three walks. Sheffield's ERA with SWB sits at 2.61 in 52 2/3 innings.
No. 4 (No. 67) -- Chance Adams (RHP) did not make a start since the last report. Adams' 4.97 ERA is a certain disappointment after a fine 2017 season.
No. 8 -- Thairo Estrada (2B/SS) remains on the seven-day disabled list. In 33 at-bats with Scranton, Estrada was hitting just .152.
No. 12 -- Jonathan Loaisiga (RHP) was optioned to Triple-A after making four starts for the Yan-kees. Loaisiga did not make a start since the demotion and owns a matching 3.00 ERA in 45 mi-nor league innings and 18 MLB frames this season.
No. 15 -- Cody Carroll (RHP) made two relief appearances this week, totaling three innings without allowing a run. Carroll leads the RailRiders with eight saves this season.
No. 16 -- Billy McKinney (OF) had two three-hit games in his five contests this week, which may have brought him out of a mini skid at the plate. McKinney possesses a .853 OPS with SWB this season.
No. 27 -- Ben Heller (RHP) is on the 60-day disabled list after undergoing Tommy John surgery in April.
Making Noise -- Raynel Espinal (RHP) has allowed just one run in his last 9 1/3 relief innings. Espinal has 55 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings this season.
