The Yankees have officially named LHP Jordan Montgomery their fifth starter for the season, per Newsday's Erik Boland.
It was an expected move by manager Aaron Boone to keep the 25-year-old in the rotation for his sophomore season.
"We're really excited not only about the year he put together last year but where we think he can continue to go," Boone said on Montgomery. "When I look at him, I look at him as one of our starters."
Montgomery posted a 3.88 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 29 games in his rookie season last year. He also earned sixth place in AL Rookie of the Year voting.
