Yankees RHP A.J. Cole landed on the 10-day DL on Thursday (retroactive to June 20) due to a left neck strain.
Cole pinched a nerve in his neck while playing catch on Wednesday, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said.
RHP Luis Cessa was activated from the DL to replace Cole on the 25-man roster.
Cole, 26, has a 6.17 ERA and 1.46 WHIP with 25 strikeouts in 25.1 innings (two starts, nine relief appearances) for the Yankees this season.
