The Yankees went 2-5 against their ALCS opponent, the Houston Astros, during the regular season, with each game taking place prior to Houston's acquisition of RHP Justin Verlander.
AL West champion Houston, who won 101 games during the regualr season, dispatched the Red Sox in four games in the ALDS.
The best-of-seven ALCS begins on Friday night in Houston, with RHP Dallas Keuchel starting for the Astros. Verlander gets the ball for Game 2.
The Yankees lost three of four games against the Astros at Yankee Stadium from May 11-14. Dallas Keuchel allowed one run on five hits while walking one and striking out nine in 6.0 innings during the first game of the series.
In a doubleheader on May 14, Luis Severino gave up three runs on six hits while walking three and striking out two in 2 2/3 innings. And Masahiro Tanaka was clobbered in the nightcap -- allowing eight runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out three in 1 2/3 innings.
From June 30 to July 2, the Yankees lost two of three games in Houston. Severino allowed six runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out seven in 5 1/3 innings as the Yankees lost the final game of the series.
CC Sabathia did not face the Astros during the regular season.
