James Paxton entered his start on Friday against Texas looking to pick up his 11th straight winning decision.
Unexpectedly, though, Paxton was pulled from the game after just one inning. He threw 21 pitches in the frame and gave up two earned runs.
The Yankees later announced that Paxton left the game with a tight left glute, though his exit was described as precautionary.
Yankees skipper Aaron Boone told reporters prior to the game against Texas that he thought Paxton may have a bit of a shorter start, as the team prepares him for postseason play, but Boone also said they he wanted Paxton to at least go into the middle innings.
After the game, Boone told reporters that the issue was minor and that Paxton wanted to stay in the game.
