Yankees prospect James Kaprielian was reassigned to minor league camp Thursday, hours after making his Grapefruit League debut.
The 23-year-old struck out three and walked one in two scoreless innings Thursday afternoon in the Yankees' 11-5 win over the Blue Jays.
New York kept Kaprielian out of game action due to caution surrounding his right elbow. Although the right-hander pitched in the Arizona Fall League, he was limited to just 18 innings in the minors in 2016 after he suffered a flexor strain in his right elbow last April.
The Yankees' 2015 first-round pick is rated the sixth-best prospect in their system by MLB.com.
OF Mason Williams was also sent to minor league camp Thursday.
