The Mets are having internal discussions about whether to trade Jacob deGrom and/or Noah Syndergaard, according to SNY's Andy Martino. And if they can't have deGrom, the Yankees' Neil Walker would be just fine with them settling for Syndergaard.

"If he were to be an addition to our team, it would be well-received," Walker told Brendan Kuty of NJ.com on Tuesday.

Walker, who played for the Mets in 2016 and 2017 -- before being traded to the Brewers -- talked about Syndergaard's ability to dominate.

"Noah is one of the rare guys in baseball that can just completely overpower a whole lineup," Walker said. "Not just one time through, two times through -- I've seen him just blow away guys from the first pitch of the game to the last pitch of the game. He's super competitive, big, strong guy. He wants the ball. Just one of these guys that is an asset to any team that he's on, really."

The 25-year-old Syndergaard, who is under team control through the 2021 season, hasn't pitched since May 25 due to a strained finger, but is potentially nearing a return.

On paper, the Yankees match up well with the Mets for a trade -- with the Yankees having one of the best farm systems in baseball and multiple young position players at the major league level who project as stars.

But there's one pesky thing that Martino has been pointing out that could stand in the way if the Mets decide to move one or both of their aces: the Mets and Yankees do not have a good working relationship.

And if reports are true that the Yankees would refuse to part with either Gleyber Torres or Miguel Andujar, there is probably no deal to be made here regardless of the above issue.
