Tyus Battle's terrific summer continues.

The 6-foot-5 2016 combo guard from Gladstone (N.J.) Gill St. Bernard's made the 12-man roster for the USA U17 team that will compete in the FIBA U17 World Championship next month in Dubai.

Battle has already enjoyed a strong summer in which he added offers from Duke, Kentucky, Louisville and Arizona to an already impressive list.

Battle also helped lead Team Scan to the Peach Jam semifinals last week, where they lost to Isaiah Briscoe and the Playaz Basketball Club. Battle was named to the ZAGSBLOG All-Peach Jam 2nd Team.

"Tyus has really improved his overall game from last year," U17 coach Don Showalter told "He is much more aggressive and plays with more confidence both on defense and offense. For us he can play multiple positions, point guard, two or three -- which makes him very valuable against international teams.

"Tyus is a great teammate who is extremely coachable."

Joining Battle on the U17 roster are: Jayson Tatum (Chaminade College Prep/St. Louis, Mo.), Henry Ellenson (Rice Lake H.S./Rice Lake, Wis.), Terrance Ferguson (Prime Prep Academy/Flower Mound, Texas), Harry Giles (Wesleyan Christian Academy/Winston-Salem, N.C.), V.J. King (St. Vincent-St. Mary H.S./Akron, Ohio), Malik Newman (Callaway H.S./Jackson, Miss.), Ivan Rabb (Bishop O’Dowd H.S./ Oakland, Calif.), Devearl Ramsey (Sierra Canyon H.S./Los Angeles, Calif.), Diamond Stone (Dominican H.S./Milwaukee, Wis.), Caleb Swanigan (Homestead H.S./Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Josh Jackson (Consortium College Prep H.S./ Southfield, Mich.),

Five players were cut from the U17 trials, including Findlay Prep guard Derryck Thornton, who was playing well before suffering a broken wrist.

His father, Tank Thornton, told his son is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.
