As Abdul Carter held up his Giants jersey on the stage in Green Bay after being selected with the No. 3 overall pick in the2025 NFL Draft, he wore a chain reading “INCRDBL” around his neck.
And the reasoning in pretty simple.
“I do everything at the highest level,” Carter told SNY’s Niki Lattarulo.
And it’s hard to argue with that, as Carter, a Penn State product, did it all for the Nittany Lions defense. After playing as a linebacker during his first two seasons in Happy Valley, Carter became a full-time edge rusher this past season, racking up 12.0 sacks and 24 tackles for loss in 16 games, proving himself as one of the top defensive talents in this year’s draft class.
And he now joins a Giants pass-rushing group that already features key pieces like Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux, plus Dexter Lawrence in the middle.
“I really just want to get to know those guys,” Carter told SNY. “Can’t wait to get in, meet them, know them as men, develop our relationship as teammates, and when we hit the field, we’re just going to wreak havoc.”
Over the course of the past few weeks and even months, Carter became a popular name for the Giants in mock drafts. And after Cam Ward and Travis Hunter went, as expected, with the first two picks, the Giants didn’t pass Carter up, and the Philadelphia native is still taking in the moment, as his NFL dreams have just come true.
“I had a pretty good feeling of where I was going to go, but even still, when I got the call it was so surreal,” Carter told SNY. “It felt like all the stuff I’ve been working on my whole life, my parents, all the sacrifices they made — I’m real thankful, real blessed.”
