Former NBA star Amar'e Stoudemire is joining Steve Nash's Nets coaching staff, SNY's Ian Begley confirmed.
The 37-year-old Stoudemire was Nash's teammate for six seasons (2004-05 to 2009-10) with the Phoenix Suns.
Stoudemire last played in the NBA during the 2015-16 season, and had been keeping hope for a comeback alive while playing in Israel.
With the Nets' staff starting to come together, Royal Ivey is also a candidate for a coaching position, per Begley.
Ivey, 38, played 11 seasons in the NBA, retiring after the 2013-14 season.
Brian Keefe and Phil Handy are also candidates for the coaching staff, Begley reported earlier this month.
News of Stoudemire joining the Nets was first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
