Joe Flacco will get the start under center for the Jets on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, sources told SNY's Connor Hughes.
Flacco has started the Jets' first two games of the season while second-year QB Zach Wilson recovers from a knee injury he suffered in the preseason.
The Jets ruled Wilson out until Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers at the "earliest," as head coach Robert Saleh said that the No. 2 pick must be "110 percent" healthy before he goes back out on Sundays.
Hughes noted that Wilson has been progressing well in his rehab, but won't play on Sunday no matter what. The Jets still want him to be 110 percent healthy to play a regular season game.
"Yeah he'll take another step up [in practice]," Saleh told reporters on Monday. "It's not going to be much different but he's still going to be in practice, and he's progressing very well. Like the way he's moving. We'll ramp him up just a touch more, get to the reevaluation and make decisions on how he needs to proceed from there."
"We are confident that he's looking really good," Saleh added.
The veteran Flacco looked like his old self on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, leading a fourth-quarter comeback win with two touchdown passes in the final 1:22 of the game. Flacco completed 26 of his 44 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns, including two to rookie Garrett Wilson.
Over two games this season, Flacco is third in the NFL in passing with 616 yards to go along with five touchdowns and one interception.
