Ionescu becomes second player to win multiple three-point contests

Liberty guards Sabrina Ionescu and Natasha Cloud showed out in Indiana for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Friday night competitions, winning the Skills Challenge and the three-point contest.

First up was Cloud going up against Skylar Diggins, Erica Wheeler, Allisha Gray and Courtney Williams in the Skills Challenge. The competition tested the players' dribbling, passing and shooting ability in an obstacle course.

Cloud advanced to the finals with a blistering completion time of 34.1 seconds.

In the finals, Cloud went up against Wheeler, who went first. Wheeler put up a solid time of 37.5 seconds but Cloud's pace gave her the edge as she completed the final round with a time of 36.4 seconds.

In the three-point contest, Ionescu went up against Kelsey Plum, Lexie Hull, Sonia Citron and Gray, pulling double duty.

Ionescu started off slow but finished strong in the first round, advancing with a score of 25 points. Gray, who has won a three-point contest before, would match Ionescu to advance to the finals against Ionescu.

However, the first round was a great warmup for Ionescu who made 11 straight shots at one point to finish with 30 points. Gray just could not match Ionescu's production as the Liberty guard won her second three-point contest in two tries.

Ionescu's 30 points, while impressive, still trails her WNBA-record 37 points in the final round of the 2023 competition. Ionescu is now the second player to win multiple three-point contests, joining Allie Quigley.

The Liberty are also the second team to win multiple titles, joining the Chicago Sky. They are also the third team to sweep the Friday competitions, joining the 2009 San Antonio Stars (Becky Hammon/Sophia Young) and the 2024 Atlanta Dream (Gray).
