After winning game one on Friday night, the Mets continued their three-game set against the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday night.

Here are the takeaways...

- After the Mets went down quietly during the top half of the first inning, the Angels got going early. Shohei Ohtani doubled off the right center field wall scoring Brandon Marsh. Anthony Rendon, then, doubled in Ohtani giving the Angels an early 2-0 lead against Carlos Carrasco.

- Mike Trout returned to the lineup for the Angels and whacked a homer to center field in the bottom of the third extending the lead to 3-0. Ohtani singled and later attempted to score on a Jared Walsh single but was thrown out at home by Jeff McNeil to end the inning.

- The Mets remained scoreless through five innings, however, as the Angels poured it on. Trout doubled and Ohtani cracked a two-run homer giving them a 5-0 lead. Walsh doubled which was the final pitch thrown by Carrasco as he was removed in the bottom of the fifth after being charged for five runs on the night.

- The Amazin's again went down without an answer in the top of the sixth, however, the Angels expanded on their lead. Andrew Velazquez joined the party when he hit a solo homer. Trout blasted another homer, this time, a two-run blast to make it 8-0.

- Mark Canha finally got the Mets on the board in the top of the seventh. Canha singled in J.D. Davis to get the score to 8-1. In the bottom half of the inning, Walsh got the run right back for the Angels as he sent a solo homer to deep right field ending the inning at 9-1.

Pete Alonso gave fans something to cheer about as he hit his 17th homer of the year, a solo shot making the game 9-2.

- Walsh tripled in two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning which completed his cycle. The Mets would now trail 11-2. Francisco Lindor singled in a run in the top half of the ninth which set up first and third and two out for Khalil Lee. Lee smoked his first career major league homer, a three-run shot. The 23-year-old's homer made it an 11-6 game which would end up being the final score.
