After a report Sunday morning of tension building between Brian Daboll and Wink Martindale, the Giants head coach downplayed the situation.
"I'd say the biggest argument that Wink and I have had is who has the last piece of pizza," Daboll said following New York's 10-7 win over the New England Patriots. "I got a lot of respect for Wink. He's done a good job. I'll leave it at that."
"I got a lot of respect for Wink," Daboll added when asked if there was any truth in the report. "He's a heck of a coach. I'm glad he's on the staff."
Fox’s Jay Glazer, in his report, said that he “can’t see them continuing their relationship at the end of the season or even this season.”
“There could be a mutual parting of ways,” Glazer said on Fox’s pregame show. “When I’ve talked to people in that organization, they're saying the tension between these two, you could feel it and it’s just getting worse.”
Daboll hired Martindale, formerly the Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator from 2018-21, to the same position with the Giants upon becoming New York's head coach before the 2022 season.
