UConn guard Azzi Fudd will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season as the junior suffered a torn ACL and a medial meniscal tear in her right knee.

The injury occurred in practice on Tuesday, Nov. 14, according to a team press release. On Thursday, Nov. 16, SNY reported that Fudd would miss the game against Maryland that same day with a knee injury and that more information would be released at a later date once the 21-year-old had gone through further testing.

Head coach Geno Auriemma told reporters after the Huskies’ win over the Terrapins that it was a non-contact injury that happened toward the end of practice.

“It's like most all the other ones that happened," he said. "No one near them, just random stuff."

Fudd had a knee injury last season that forced her to miss 14 games and will now miss the rest of this season after playing just two games. The Virginia native averaged 11 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in those two contests and her absence is a big blow for the Huskies who are 4-1 on the season and ranked No. 6 in the AP poll.

Fudd will have surgery at UConn Health at a later date, the school announced.
