For the second consecutive week, the Giants will be without Odell Beckham Jr.
The wide receiver was officially ruled out for Sunday's game against the Titans due to a bruised quad that kept him out of practice this week.
Beckham underwent further testing on his quad on Thursday to see if it was anything other than a bruise, but Beckham told reporters however you want to categorize it, "s--t ain't right."
Head coach Pat Shurmur said that the decision to sit Beckham was not because of any setbacks.
"Just can't go," he said.
Shurmur added nothing has been decided beyond this week, calling Beckham's status "day-to-day."
The 26-year-old initially sustained the injury in Week 12 against the Eagles when he was tripped on the final play but still played the following week against the Bears.
The Giants did not rule Beckham out of last week's game against the Redskins until the day prior, which came as a surprise as he was not given an injury designation on the final injury report.
At 5-8, the Giants remain a longshot at reaching the playoffs, but because of those slim playoff hopes Beckham has been hopeful he could return to the field. He said on Thursday he expected to monitor his injury through the weekend and make a decision on Sunday morning before kickoff.
"I honestly don't know until Sunday gets here," he said. "It's just been getting better each and every day so just got to figure out what it was."
Beckham sustained a season-ending ankle fracture in Week 5 of last year and while he is desperate to return to the field, he appears to be more cognizant of taking care of his body.
"I feel like a younger me wouldn't have spoke up and said anything," he said on Thursday. "And then I would've went out and played and coulda been worse. So we went and got it checked and we seen whatever we saw. Just kinda going from there."
