Jim Bob Cooter among Adam Gase's assistants on Jets' new staff

Jets also hire Bo Hardegree, Andre Carter

Jim Bob Cooter was among 11 assistants new Jets head coach Adam Gase hired as part of his staff on Friday.

Cooter, who previously spent time as Detroit Lions offensive coordinator, will be New York's running backs coach.

Shawn Jefferson will be an assistant head coach and wide receivers coach, as he previously coached players like Calvin Johnson and Jarvis Landry.

Gase hired John Dunn to be tight ends coach, Frank Pollack as offensive line coach, Derek Frazier as assistant offensive line coach and Bo Hardegree as an offensive assistant to work with offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains.

On defense, Gase hired Frank Bush to be assistant head coach on defense and the inside linebackers coach, Andre Carter as defensive line coach, Joe Vitt as a senior defensive assistant and outside linebackers coach, and Blake Williams and Eric Sanders as defensive assistants to work with defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.

Brant Boyer will officially return as special teams coordinator.

Among the other Jets returning coaches are Dennard Wilson (defensive backs), Steve Jackson (assistant defensive backs), Robby Brown (defensive assistant), Jeff Hammerschmidt (assistant special teams), Justus Galac (head of strength and conditioning) and Aaron McLaurin and Joseph Giacobbe (assistant strength and conditioning).
