Jim Harbaugh may be among the more attractive NFL head coaching commodities this offseason, but the University of Michigan coach does not appear interested in discussing that possibility.
During a Friday morning press conference ahead of the Peach Bowl, Harbaugh was asked if he or his representatives have been contacted by NFL teams.
"I really don't have any representatives," Harbaugh said, completely avoiding the question. "No agent or anything."
Harbaugh had shot down rumors earlier in December, telling ESPN's Adam Schefter, "I'm not going anywhere," but speculation appears to be more rampant than usual that he will make a return to the NFL.
On Sunday, ProFootballTalk reported that the Jets planned to pursue Harbaugh in the offseason and would be willing to give the 55-year-old coach a salary that would exceed the $7 million a year he earns at Michigan.
The Jets promptly shot down that report, putting out a statement that said there was "no truth" to it and that Todd Bowles is their head coach.
However, SNY's Ralph Vacchiano has been reporting that Bowles will likely be fired after the season finale this Sunday against the Patriots.
While there are some negatives that may come with hiring Harbaugh, he has a track record of developing young quarterbacks, such as Andrew Luck at Stanford, and finding success with Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick during his tenure as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers.
Should Harbaugh decide to stay at Michigan, there are still plenty of other potential coaches the Jets could explore.
