Former UConn forward Megan Walker won't have to go far to start her WNBA career.
Walker was selected by the New York Liberty with the ninth overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft on Friday night, eight picks after the Liberty selected Oregon star Sabrina Ionescu with the first pick.
Walker announced in mid-March that she would be forgoing her senior season to declare for the draft.
As a junior, Walker was named the AAC's Player of the Year, as well as the AAC Tournament's Most Outstanding Player. For the season, Walker led the Huskies with 19.7 points per game while also grabbing 8.4 rebounds per game.
