For Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez, "it felt good" to deliver an RBI double in the 10th inning of a 4-3 win. His struggles have been well documented but he continues to work his way back to form. Francisco Lindor, who homered to lead off the game sees "the grinding" that Alvarez is doing and feels he's turning the corner. He called Monday night's battle "a great team win." Paul Blackburn threw five scoreless innings and after not pitching in a major league game since last August, he was just happy to be back. He even struck MVP Shohei Ohtani out twice, attributing his success to having faced him numerous times when he was with the Angels.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was impressed with Paul Blackburn's first start of the season against one of the best lineups in baseball and his five shutout innings. Mendoza praised Francisco Alvarez for his big RBI double in the 10th inning and feels he's made improvements in his swing. The 4-3 win over the Dodgers was the Mets third straight win over the defending champions but Mark Vientos' apparent hamstring injury while tumbling out of the batter's box appears to be significant, putting a damper on the win but Mendoza is still awaiting Vientos' test results.

Francisco Alvarez and Francisco Lindor each drove in a run in the 10th inning and Jose Butto escaped a jam to get his first save of the season as the Mets prevailed over the Dodgers 4-3. Paul Blackburn made his first start of 2025 and tossed five shutout innings.

Despite allowing a home run in the first inning, an unfazed Kodai Senga proceeded to retire 17 hitters in row in the Mets dominant 8-2 win over the Rockies. The offense provided him with plenty of support, beginning with Brett Baty's three-run triple in the bottom of the opening inning. Brandon Nimmo who left the game early with a calf cramp, stayed around long enough to belt a two-run HR and moments later watched Juan Soto go back-to-back with him as the Mets pulled away. Senga, ever the perfectionist, still feels he has things to work on but improving to 6-3 on the season with a 1.60 ERA doesn't get much better.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza liked everything about Kodai Senga's start on Saturday, as he got the Rockies to chase several pitches out of the strike zone with the "Ghost Fork." Offensively, he thought Brett Baty's big bases-clearing triple in the first inning set the tone for the rest of the game. Mendoza also touched on the Brandon Nimmo and Juan Soto home runs as a great sign that their bats are coming alive.
